CAPRO Hosts “COME AWAY” For Church leaders in the Diaspora
As an attempt to draw the attention of church leaders in the diaspora on the need to reach out to different nationalities in the UK, CAPRO UK initiated the hosting of a forum called’Come Away’.
The first ‘Come Away’was held in 2012 for Pastors and Friends of CAPRO in Paisley, Scotland. The purpose was to rejuvenate and refocus HIS ministers for the task of unrelenting evangelization of Scotland. It was a platform to constructively review the diaspora missionary endeavor in Scotland for greater advance.
Sixty-one pastors attended from all parts of Scotland and the Middlands of the UK. They were accommodated overnight at the Glynhill Hotel Paisley. Of the different feedback from pastors, 59% indicated their willingness to partner with CAPRO UK. Hosted and facilitated by Ifeanyi Obi, the presentations were made by Kola Kehinde, Peter Ozodo, both from CAPRO, Douglas Craig from WEC International, and Sharon Rose from Operation Mobilization (OM).
At the second ‘Come Away’ which was held recently, 80 participants of both indigenous and diaspora (in almost equal numbers) pastors, friends and their spouses from all parts of Scotland attended the forum. The retreat held with an overnight prayer meeting from 6 pm on Friday to 5 pm on Saturday at the Glynhill Hotel, Renfrew Scotland.
Kola Kehinde, CAPRO UK Coordinator gave the opening charge “Beginning at the End” on Engaged Discipleship, while Patrick Johnstone, Founder of Operation World Prayer Manual and Author of “The Future of the Global Church” presented a paper, and facilitated a mini workshop on “Europe’s Diaspora The Way Ahead”. Peter Ozodo spoke on “Kingdom Culture- Identifying our Purpose Together. Sharon Rose, Scotland Coordinator of Operation Mobilisation (OM) Public Ministries facilitated an interactive workshop on the theme of the Retreat. Rev. John Holme, National Coordinator of Operation Great Britain spoke on “Kingdom Culture Working Together to Redeem Scotland.”
The meeting was moderated by Rev. Chris Gbenle of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Fountain of Love Parish Aberdeen, and Douglas Craig, Scotland Coordinator for WEC International. Much of the funding came from the Omega II Project of the Foursquare Gospel Church, Asokoro, Abuja, Nigeria and other individual and church donors.
COME AWAY is the first All Scotland CAPRO Pastors Forum aimed at fortifying awareness for greater discipleship and missions thrust.
